In May 1995, 5 people came together to form Quakers Running Club – the club officially turned 30 this year, celebrating their Pearl Anniversary. Members celebrated this momentous milestone and reflected on the past 30 years, with wonderful memories at the Anniversary Ball.

The black tie celebration was held at the Masonic Hall in Darlington, with live music after the 3 course meal. The lycra was ditched for one night, with members getting their glad rags on to celebrate and share 30 years of memories.

Many thanks to the Social Committee, team at The Masonic Hall and the band for making the event such a great success.

Quakers Running Club has a deep sense of community through its events and charitable initiatives. The Management Team and volunteers work hard to create a welcoming environment and members support each other through training, celebrating achievements and progress as well as social events. At the ball, £50 was raised for the QRC Charity of the year – The Great North Air Ambulance.

A strong reputation has been built over the club’s 30-year history, making it one of the friendliest and most inclusive running clubs in the region. The club has well over 200 members ranging from 18 year olds to 70 odd year olds, with an offer for athletes for all abilities from beginners, right up to members competing for England.

The club has coaches that are experienced and knowledgeable across all disciplines and can offer advice and guidance. Training sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday evening, catering for beginners and experienced runners alike.

The club continues to embrace their motto, No Quaker left behind.
